SBI4U - Biology 12 |
Scientific preview
This course provides students with the opportunity for in-depth study of the concepts and processes that occur in biological systems. This course provides you with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for taking a first year Biology course at University. Students will study theory and conduct investigations in the areas of biochemistry, metabolic processes, molecular genetics, homeostasis, and population dynamics. Emphasis will be placed on the achievement of detailed knowledge and the refinement of skills needed for further study in various branches of the life sciences and related fields.
Scientific Experiments and field trips will also be included throughout the semester. One of the main components in this course will be the contemplation of concepts and how biological concepts have affected our society in the past and how it affects us now and will affect us in the future. These types of topics will help us generate great scientific discussions about science and its applicability to the world. Students in biology 12 will learn to think critically about all the biological components in the world, the processes and how they shape humanity and its society.
